How Calie works
Five core approaches Calie uses most: EMDR, clinical hypnosis, ACT, CBT and the Gottman Method, plus a wider toolkit she draws on when it fits. Some sessions are EMDR. Some are quiet and hypnotic. Some are practical and skills based. Which one we use depends on you, not on a script.
EMDR
A trauma-informed approach that helps the brain process distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming in the present. Through bilateral stimulation, EMDR supports the integration of past experiences and reduces emotional reactivity and trauma symptoms.
ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy helps you build a different relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than trying to eliminate them. The focus is psychological flexibility: staying present, making room for discomfort, and taking meaningful action aligned with your values.
Clinical hypnosis
A focused, collaborative state of attention that allows access to deeper patterns of learning, memory and emotional experience. Used therapeutically, hypnosis can support nervous system regulation, trauma healing, habit change and self-awareness in a safe, intentional way.
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on identifying and shifting the unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that feed emotional distress. By seeing how thoughts, feelings and actions interact, you build practical skills for managing anxiety, depression and everyday challenges.
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy builds skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness. It is especially helpful if you experience intense emotions or feel overwhelmed by relationships, impulses or mood swings.
Gottman Method
A research-based, structured approach to couples therapy that strengthens the relationship by improving communication, managing conflict well and deepening emotional connection. It builds trust, friendship and shared meaning with practical, evidence-based tools.
IFS (parts work)
Internal Family Systems sees the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own role and intention. Therapy builds a compassionate relationship with those parts, reduces internal conflict, and strengthens calm, clarity and self-leadership.
Emotionally Focused Therapy
An attachment-based approach that helps you understand and change the emotional patterns in your relationships. It works with the underlying emotions and needs beneath conflict to create stronger, more secure connection with yourself and others.
Somatic therapy
Focuses on the mind-body connection, helping you notice how stress and trauma are held in the body. Body-based awareness, sensation and movement support regulation, release stored tension, and restore a sense of balance and safety.
Motivational Interviewing
A collaborative, client-centered approach for exploring your own motivation for change. It leans on empathy, makes room for ambivalence, and helps you find your own reasons and readiness, rather than being told what to do.
Mindfulness (MBSR)
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teaches practical mindfulness skills to reduce stress and improve emotional well-being: present-moment awareness, breath and body awareness that support calm, clarity and resilience in daily life.
Trauma-focused therapy
Helps you safely process and heal from traumatic experiences. It focuses on how trauma shapes thoughts, emotions and behavior, while building coping skills, emotional regulation, and a lasting sense of safety and empowerment.
